Orbelus

The Orbelus story is one of dedication: dedication to quality winemaking, landscape, and terroir. Their commitment to environmental responsibility is known all over Bulgaria. They are at the forefront of the push for organic grapegrowing, which is now sweeping the country.

Orbelus is situated in the Struma Valley, at the foot of the mountain of Pirin. The mountain also gave the brand the name Orbelus, as it was called by the Thracians who inhabited the region in the past. The Orbelus project began in 2000 when the first hectare of land was acquired in the territory of Kapatovo, a village situated in the Struma Valley. Blagoy Roussev, the founder and winery manager, is local to the area. Special attention is given to the cultivation of the region's traditional grape variety, Early Melnik, as well as the local white grape, Sandanski Misket.

International grape varieties cultivated include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache Noir, Primitivo, Petit Verdot, Marselan, Mourvedre, Viognier, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. All are chosen with a view to the climate particularities and soil composition.

The company’s objective is to produce high quality red and white wines in a nature conscious manner, guaranteeing its products’ ecological purity.  Thus, all Orbelus brand wines are made with certified organic grapes.

Focused. Sustainably-Minded. Inspirational.
